Alcohol rehab, short for alcohol rehabilitation, began in the days of when people who were suffering from alcoholism were locked up in asylums to dry out. This was a type of rehabilitation that was not only brutal, but produced poor results. It wasn't until years later, somewhere in the 1970s or 1980s that alcohol rehabs began to take on a different light. After the American Medical Association declared alcoholism a disease, people started to think differently about how to provide alcohol rehab. Today, an alcohol rehab can be a wonderful experience with "state-of-the-art" medical care and innovative clinical services.

As time went on, some alcohol rehabs began to specialize in certain areas of rehabilitation. One alcohol rehab might specialize in treating women, another dual diagnosis and others may focus on a specific group, such as on the needs of the gay and lesbian population. Some of the gay-friendly alcohol rehabs that treated members of the GLBT community designed themselves to treat only gay men and women. After considerable research, we determined this philosophy severely limited the possible results a treatment environment had to offer and that this was not the best type of treatment possible for the GLBT individual.

The philosophy embraced at the Freedom Rings alcohol rehab is that members of the gay community would respond better to rehabilitation if they were treated as equals with the heterosexual population. We believe that the gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender population has suffered enough alienation, discrimination and prejudice for us to allow it in our alcohol rehab. For this reason, the gay man and woman stand on equal ground during their alcohol rehab and are treated with dignity, respect and accepted for who they are.

For a "gay affirming" alcohol rehab, call us now at 1-800-231-1820. We are committed to providing the GLBT community with the best alcohol rehab possible. All calls are confidential and toll-free.

First-Class Gay-Friendly Alcohol Rehab Programs

It has long been the desire of the owners of Lakeview's Freedom Rings to provide first-class alcohol rehabilitation for the gay community. In support of this dream, the best clinical staff available was hired to design our rehabilitation programs with the GLBT individual in mind. This is not to say the entire alcohol rehab program is designed around the gay population, just that "all" of their clinical and medical needs were taken into consideration. We emphasize this point as most alcohol rehab programs are designed around the heterosexual with the gay and lesbian community asked to "just fit in."

Studies have shown us that for an alcohol rehab program to be effective, it must provide its patients with individualized alcohol rehabilitation, unquestioned medical care and a clinical staff capable of effectively addressing mental health issues along with those associated with alcoholism. If an alcohol rehab is to truly meet the needs of the GLBT community, there needs to be a "program within a program" where an individual can express oneself without feeling judged or ridiculed. A program component where an individual who is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender can discuss sensitive issues related to coming out, questions about sexual orientation, homophobia or heterosexism. Taking matters even further is the issue of family recovery for you, your partner and possibly your parents. This type of family treatment requires a professional with a thorough understanding of family dynamics, as well as, relationship building within the gay community. You will find all of the above in the alcohol rehab program at Lakeview's Freedom Rings. We are proud to say that our program has been recognized as one of the finest in the nation.

If you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning your sexual orientation and are in need of alcohol rehabilitation, there is no need to wait any longer.

Call our alcohol rehab NOW for help! Call us at 1-800-231-1820. Your call is confidential and our alcohol rehab staff is waiting to take your call 24/7.
