About Our Gay-Friendly Drug Detox Program

Drug detox programs medically stabilize the body by eliminating the toxins it has accumulated through the use and abuse of drugs. Drug detox is not the same as rehabilitation, but is the first important step in the recovery process. Freedom Rings is a Florida-based addiction treatment center with an onsite drug detox program. We specialize in treating gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning individuals.

The following details the comprehensive drug detox program available at Freedom Rings.

Medically-based. Our drug detox program has at its core, a highly-specialized medical care component. Every physician and psychiatrist who oversees our program specializes in addiction medicine. Additionally, all of our physicians and psychiatrists are board-certified in their area of medical expertise. Inpatient, medically-driven drug detox programs such as ours provide 24-hour care and support, giving patients the best opportunity to recover from their chemical dependency.

Accredited and licensed. Freedom Rings is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospital Organizations and licensed by the State of Florida.

We administer pain medication for detox. Unlike other drug detox programs where it is common for staff to believe that pain experienced while going through detox will serve as a reminder the next time the patient wants to drink or use drugs, we do not believe you need to be in pain through the detox process. We believe you have already experienced enough pain and it is time to begin recovering from that pain. That's why we design a detox protocol to meet your personal medical needs and provide medications to ease any withdrawal symptoms you might experience. Our nursing staff is available 24-hours a day to ensure you are kept comfortable, and they are always on hand to take care of any medical issues that may arise.

We make recommendations for ongoing treatment. Many people automatically assume the only service drug detox programs provide is that of managing withdrawal symptoms. Unfortunately, in some cases that is quite true. Freedom Rings' clinical staff evaluates every patient as to their need for ongoing treatment, beyond detox. This is critical. Research shows that very few people benefit in the long run by just going through a few days of detox. It is the responsibility of the treating physicians to assess each individual, determine what type of treatment they require and assist them in making the transition from detox to rehabilitation.

Intervention after drug detox. After detox, patients often want to go straight home rather than continue onto the rest of the addiction treatment process. When this occurs the facility must have a staff capable of performing a professional intervention. An intervention is a clinical process in which we bring significant others together to create a situation where the patient in need of continued treatment sees the benefit in going.

Holistic services. While most drug detox programs use only medication to ease withdrawal symptoms, Freedom Rings takes the process a step further. By offering our patients the additional benefits of holistic services, our patients exhibit less anxiety, sleep better, are more alert and are more motivated to attend ongoing rehab. Some of the holistic services offered include nutritional planning, exercise class, vitamin therapy, yoga, meditation and relaxation courses.

For a gay-friendly drug detox program that works, call Freedom Rings toll-free at 1-800-231-1820. Our supportive staff is on hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week to handle your call. All calls are completely confidential.
